Why do people have cars?

Cars offer a convenient way to move around in that the owner does not have to follow the schedule of nor wait for the public transport. This is very important for people who have very busy schedules and cannot afford to waste time. The cars also promote independence since one does not rely on others for their transport needs.

A car saves time for its owner. Public transport systems have scheduled stops at designated areas to either pick up or drop off passengers. These stops can be time consuming especially when you are going far. Having a car frees up this time since you do not have to make the stops. Besides, the time taken to walk to and from the bust stop could also be saved and put into more productive use.

Emergency situations are easier with a car at your disposal. This is especially true for people who live or work in rural areas where ambulances and rescue vehicles may take long to get to. However, in the case of a medical emergency, it is good to determine whether the affected individual can be moved to avoid worsening the situation.

A car opens up the world to its owner. Why? It becomes easier to visit areas that may not be covered by public transport facilities and that may be too expensive to access through the use of cabs. It is also easier to take long trips with a family when you have a vehicle.
